Wild Zambezi

Thee journey of the lesser-known Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia, to overcome her historical and daily struggles against the encroachment of man, is a microcosm of the ongoing epic existential crisis that faces the world’s most vulnerable ecosystems.

Our most precious wilderness strongholds are currently under serious threat.

Wild Zambezi is a dynamically paced series that weaves together the park’s complex story, using a multitude of layers from scenic, natural history, personal story and climate change, to exposing the dark underbelly of profit over planet, at any cost.

Wild Zambezi is about making a stand and truly protecting the last precious wilderness strongholds on this planet.

- How can we call protected areas “protected” if we are not going to protect them? - What will we tell our children when there is no wilderness to speak of?
- What precedent are we setting for our future?

Zambia’s beloved founding father, Dr Kennith Kaunda was a leader in conservation and inspired the Zambian people to follow his example. So many adults now working in conservation started as members of the Shongololo youth club initiated up by Dr Kaunda. The lower Zambezi national park was a place dear to his heart. In fact he spent the last few months of his life there, taking it in for the very last time.

Enter David Ngwenyama, independent ecologist who has battled to protect the Lower Zambezi National Park from the threat of mining for so many years. His dedication and commitment in this matter has been unwavering.

Wild Zambezi will be completed and ready for broadcast end of January.
