Memory Lane

Music touches almost everyone, and live concerts are the ultimate representation of that tangibility. Whereas studio albums can be polished, almost remote, there’s no hiding place on stage. It exposes an artist to their most ardent fans and sometimes their harshest critics, but it’s also a window on to their life’s work.

This is a series which looks both back and forward from a particular period in time through the prism of live performances. Those shows are used to pinpoint the evolution of an artist and provide a reference for a discussion of what went before and after. The songs represent both their lives and their work and create the framework for a mini biopic.

These programs are much more than just a concert from the vaults. They marry that content with a smart, incisive and concise analysis of the artist and the position they occupy in the pantheon of fame at a given stage in their career.
