Josephine Baker: The Musical

Born in the black ghetto of Saint Louis, Missouri, USA, and married at the age of 13, young Joséphine arrived in France and became the icon of Paris in the Roaring Twenties. A dazzling artist with extraordinary dancing and singing talents, she was the precursor of hip hop. She joined the resistance. In this show, we meet her partners (Sydney Bechet, Jean Gabin), her lovers (Paul Colin, Pépito), her husbands (Willie Baker, Jo Bouillon) and the heroes who, like her, would not hesitate to put their lives in danger to save Jews and thwart Nazi plans. She campaigned all her life against racial segregation, joining Martin Luther King, adopting 12 children of all origins and creating her rainbow tribe.
